March 2015 Wild Ones Root River Chapter Meeting Announcement

| Uncategorized

Good afternoon, Wild Ones! I have exciting news on 2 fronts. Our February speaker?s son had a medical emergency last month and that?s why he was unable to make it. His son is fine and he?d like to make it up to us by speaking (for free!) at our March meeting. So, here?s the info:

Kelsay Shaw from Possibility Place Nursery (where our awesome trees and shrubs come from for our plant sale) will talk about how to select woody plants for different types of sites. He will also bring catalogs (!!!). Couple this with the plant sale preorder form and it?s going to be a very productive meeting!?Finally, there will be cookies!
?
When:?Saturday, March 7 at 10:00 am
Where:?Kenosha Northside Library, 1500 27th Avenue, Kenosha
What:?Site Selection for Woody Plants
Afterwards, we’ll lunch at the Gateway?Caf? nearby. This brings me to my other bit of news.?I want to thank everyone who participated in the discussion about the plant sale location at the January meeting. It was great to get feedback from so many of our members, and the plant sale committee really appreciated your ideas, suggestions, and support. We’ve been working hard on this, and?I?m really excited to tell you that our sale this year will be at Gateway Technical College in Kenosha. It?s a great location in north Kenosha and they are eager to work with us. They also hold a plant sale and have moved it to coincide with ours, which means that the people that come for annuals, veggies, and perennials will be walking right past our native plants, and we will pull them in and make converts of them. 🙂 They get about 1,000 people at their sale so this is a great opportunity for us, not to mention it?s much more convenient for most of our members than our previous location.
?
So, come on out to find out which woodies are best for your sites, get a catalog, have some lunch, and dream about our plant sale on June 6! Hope to see you there!
