Wild Ones Root River Chapter April 2017 Meeting Announcement

| Uncategorized

Good morning, Wild Ones! Ecofest was a huge success ? thanks so much to our members for staffing our booth and filling bags of milkweed seed, because we?ve already given away most of the 400 bags we made! For our April meeting, Valerie Mann from Pringle Nature Center will be talking about phenology and how climate change has affected it.

 Here?s the info:

When: Saturday, April 1 at 10:00 am

Where: Salem Community Library meeting room: 24615 89th Street, Salem, WI 53168

(We would normally meet at Bristol School, but it?s their spring break and because of the construction on Hwy 45 it?s hard to get there anyway. The Salem library is at the corner of Hwy 83 and AH, driveway is on AH. The meeting room is to the left just before you get into the library itself.)

What: Phenology and Climate Change with Valerie Mann, Naturalist at Pringle Nature Center

Afterwards we?ll lunch. If we can get to the 45 Diner, we?ll go there. If not, we?ll go someplace else. Regardless, there will be cookies!

In other news, at the Chiwaukee workday last Saturday, we worked on the plot that our chapter helped to purchase! There was a lot of buckthorn, of course, but we uncovered a little stand of nannyberry viburnum, and who knows what else is lurking under the snow! I might be biased, but I personally thought that this was the nicest piece of the prairie. 🙂

 Stay Wild!

Chris
